The Explosive Nature of Sewer Gases
1992 Guadalajara explosions
“A series of ten explosions took place on April 22, 1992, in the downtown district of Analco in Guadalajara city, Jalisco state, Mexico. Numerous gas explosions in the sewer system over four hours destroyed 8 kilometres of streets.” Wikipedia
What are Sewer Gases?
Everyone knows what it is like when someone passes gas in a room. The process of gas creation from digested food continues long after we flush the toilet. These sewer gases, also called methane, fill the sewer pipes that are located underground. RoofWhirlys4Africa sewer vents ensure these gases are vented to the atmosphere removing odours and gas. This prevents the gases from building up and exploding or causing health risks.
